The main purpose of the Non-Executive Director (NED) is to bring an independent perspective to the company. A NED should provide a creative contribution to the board by providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to the executive directors, ensuring that risks are appropriately considered.

Your job is to provide challenge while aiding the growth of the firm.

The NED role is a part-time role. The time requirement is normally two days per month. The board meets 10 times a year. All meetings are held via videoconference and your physical presence in Leeds is not required.

As with all roles, you are expected to be ambassadorial about the firm and support its image and reputation.

Applicants are expected to have board-level experience at a regulated financial services firm. Preference is given to applicants with experience of high-risk areas of regulated financial services.

Key duties:

• Attend board meetings and provide challenge to executives
• Promote the services of the company
• Attend appropriate committee meetings
• Review risks and advise the team on appropriate actions

Main responsibilities:

• Provide strategic direction
• Study the board pack and look for key risk areas
• Contact and engage with key stakeholders
• Understand and comply with the firm's regulatory compliance policies and procedures

The role requires:

• An understanding of the UK corporate governance code
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to professionally overcome objections
• Critical thinking with a positive attitude
• A self-starter, capable of working independently
• Someone who is comfortable with technology, as you will help to deliver financial technology products

Pay:

• £40 per hour
