#LeedsTechMap

We're proud to be a stop on the Fintech line of the Leeds Tech Map!

Stuart Clarke at Paceline has published a visual guide to the companies that make up the Leeds tech sector, based on the idea of the classic London underground map.

You can see the full map here (and print it off if you want to - it's a hi-res PDF).

We have been apart for nearly a year now, so this serves as a striking reminder of the strong tech community we have in Leeds and the innovative people and businesses in the city.

While we're on the subject of the underground, we'd just like to point out that Leeds could definitely do with an improved public transport system!

Leeds is the largest city in Europe without any form of light rail or underground.

The old tram system was dismantled in the early 1950s, and attempts in the 1990s and 2000s to create a Supertram network failed. Proposals about 10 years ago to create a trolley bus system also failed. There are plenty of buses, and some guided bus lanes, but recent efforts have focused on new roads like the ELOR and a new park and ride carpark by the White Rose Centre instead of on mass transit.

With the changes to working habits, will as many people continue to travel to the city centre? Probably not. Businesses are spread across the city, and an efficient mass transit system could help move people to different areas of the city instead of funneling them from park and ride carparks into the centre.

Let's not give up on the dream of having a real underground (or at least a tram, please?) in Leeds. #MakeTheMapAReality
