At the end of 2013, Netwise Hosting borrowed £100,000 from rebuildingsociety’s lenders. The purpose of the loan was to build a brand new datacentre eleven times the size of its existing datacentre, to help the business expand and serve London’s thriving Tech City industry.
Last week, rebuildingsociety had a sneak peek at the progress being made by MD, Matthew Butt, and his team.
As the experts, the Netwise team are doing the refurbishment themselves in a scenario many business owners can only dream of. The three-strong team has been busy completely refurbishing an 11,000 sq ft warehouse in Bermondsey and there has been zero disruption to the business. Racks have been temporarily relocated and will be installed at Netwise House in July when the build is scheduled to complete.
It’s a lean business, although Matt Seaton, Senior Manager at Netwise Hosting (who conducted the tour in a pair of work boots and paint-covered trousers) expects the team to take on one or two administrators to keep service levels high. Looking past the technical aspects of the building, it’s clear that customer service is important to the team.
There’s a kitchen, shower and relaxation room for customers who need to stay on site for a long period of time to install their servers and the space and layout of the office is impressive and in kilter with other modern workspaces like Google.
It’s an approach that is paying off too. A couple of weeks ago, Matthew was awarded the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year award at the London Business Awards. It’s certainly a business to look out for and we’ll be doing another piece when the new datacentre opens up to clients.
